South Orange Village seeks Seton Village NPP Coordinator

South Orange Village Administration seeks a part-time coordinator for the Seton Village Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP). This position will report to the Village Deputy Administrator and is funded by a NJ State NPP grant, with an expected end date of December 2026.

The NPP takes a comprehensive approach to neighborhood development, which affords municipalities flexible and creative options. The Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) directly serves targeted neighborhoods throughout the state and provides money for revitalization efforts using a comprehensive cooperative approach that includes all sectors of the community and promotes a unified effort.

Job Summary 

Ideal candidates will possess a high degree of independence, the ability to work with disparate stakeholders (business owners, property owners, NJ State DCA, South Orange Village administration and residents) and excellent project management skills.

This is an ideal position for someone looking for flexible hours and a remote working situation. However, the coordinator will sometimes be required to be present at Village Hall and in the business district during regular business hours.

 Job Functions

  • Facilitate revitalization program plan with the input and support of key district stakeholders. Update plan as need ensuring:

1.    District needs, assets and challenges are addressed

2.    Program is shaped by data drawn from the community

3.    Strategic goals are well articulated

4.    Visible and tangible projects support strategic goals

5.    Budget and program finances align with strategic goals

  • Develop relationships with district stakeholders and encourage their participation in program plans

  • Manage day-to-day of the approved NPP Implementation Plan, including event management and quarterly grant reporting

  • Establish and maintain program files

  • Research and identify possible grants and other funding sources

  • Communicate and develop marketing plan in support of district programs utilizing Squarespace website, Mailchimp newsletters and social media platforms

  • Attend training webinars and workshops
