Business Profile: Stan Malb

An Interview with Seton Village NPP and Stanley Malb, owner of Stan’s Service Center at 451 Irvington Avenue.

NPP
: How long have you been in business?
SM: I opened Stan’s Service Center in May 2014, so I’ve been here for over 9 years now. Prior to opening Stan’s service, I ran a real estate investment company - buying, selling, renovating real estate, and appraisal services. Real estate is my first passion.

NPP: What brought you to Seton Village as the location for your business? Or, talk about the benefits and/or draw backs of your location?
SM: I knew the neighborhood very well. I have been a resident of South Orange for more than 10 years. It made sense for me to establish a local business in this community that has embraced me from day one. Stan’s Service is located at the edge of the South Orange and Maplewood borders, which is one of our key benefits. In addition, we are minutes away from Seton Hall University Campus. The overall footprint of our location also includes a string of diverse communities and businesses who frequent our location. We try to help everyone the best way we know how. I can say that we are very good at it.

NPP: What’s your favorite part of running Stan’s?
SM: I find joy in helping others and am very customer service oriented. Running my business gives me a platform to feed that urge on a regular basis.

NPP: What would you like to see change for you or other businesses in the area?
SM: When we opened Stan’s Service Center, we certainly lacked the experience in running such operations back then. Over the years, we made some mistakes on how to handle certain situations. I’m proud to say we have grown successfully into a great customer service oriented business. Our focus is to make the experience a great one. We do our best to do right by everyone who can actually appreciate what we do everyday. I get to know each client as if they were a family member. I really enjoy the small community feel of this town. Just awesome.
It would be great to create a stronger network with other businesses. We should have more formalized local business meetings to discuss issues we are facing - whether it’s business ideas, expansion, or funding. A strong networking forum would allow all of us to discuss solutions to our unique issues. We could call it “Seton Village Business Forum “.

NPP: Give a shout-out to some of your favorite customers/clients! Name names.
SM: I would love to give a shout-out to some amazing clients and family of mine who’ve supported my business over the years and gave me the benefit of the doubt by trusting me with their issues to resolve. I really appreciate you all. Thank you so much for all your support and referrals: Jonathan D. Luckner, L. Errol, Shana O., Liron, Pastor Herrys, Joel Levin, Rene Verna, Rick Daddario, SaB , Tahir Whitehead .

NPP: Other than your business, what other Seton Village and South Orange businesses do you frequent? Why?
SM: Inkosi from Inkosi cafe. I love the salmon burger there. Edwin Zheng from PanDang. I love the bamboo curry shrimp. Jackie and Son. I love the shawarma chicken bowl. Rick Liu from Blue Ocean. I love the spicy shrimp noodles. I can’t forget my favorite barbers Mike at Cool Runnings and Greg at GQ Cutz. YANICK from Papillon25. I love the red snapper grill. Mohammad, from Cleanway Car Wash.

We can do more together if we could bypass the bias and old habits of this world, embrace more love for one another while maintaining great open-minded conversations without the negativity. Let’s spread more love. That’s what I’m about. Thanks.
